What district of Kentucky do you represent?

Briefly, how would you describe the opioid crisis in your state?

The opioid crisis in Kentucky is severe. Its repercussions can be seen daily in any neighborhood.

What are the two or three most significant bills that have been introduced in your chamber to help alleviate the opioid crisis in your state?

2015 Regular Session (RS) Senate Bill (SB) 192

What was your involvement, if any, in those bills (e.g., introduction, advocacy, vote pledge)?

SB 192 was written on the structure of 2015 RS SB 5, which I originally authored.

Have any of the bills passed? If not, why?

A modified version of SB 5 was written into SB 192, which was passed into law.

What was the most memorable experience you had while learning about the opioid crisis in your state?

Meeting with the parents who lost loved ones due to this epidemic and with recovering addicts.

If you had a magic wand that allowed you to pass any legislation you wanted in order to help alleviate the opioid crisis in your state, what would that legislation look like?

To allow states to pursue drug cartels internationally and recover money from them.

Are there any additional thoughts you would like to share?

In my opinion, this issue is one of the most important issues that Kentucky faces. When considering new legislation, I keep the opioid epidemic at the forefront of my mind.
