What district of Arkansas do you represent?
Briefly, how would you describe the opioid crisis in your state?
It is a significant challenge in AR.
What are the two or three most significant bills that have been introduced in your chamber to help alleviate the opioid crisis in your state?
2017 AR mandated checking the PDMP prior to prescribing opioids. Also, we passed legislation allowing a statewide protocol for naloxone to be purchased in a pharmacy without a prescription.
In 2019 Legislation has been filed to mandate controlled substances are ePrescribed.
What was your involvement, if any, in those bills (e.g., introduction, advocacy, vote pledge)?
House sponsor on the 2019 ePrescribing bill and the 2017 naloxone Legislation
Have any of the bills passed? If not, why?
The 2019 ePrescribing bill is in the process now ( still in Senate)
What was the most memorable experience you had while learning about the opioid crisis in your state?
If you had a magic wand that allowed you to pass any legislation you wanted in order to help alleviate the opioid crisis in your state, what would that legislation look like?
Adequately fund addiction treatment
